Man Liverpool are fucked. I can't even be bothered watching them anymore, they just look so bad. If we had played quality opposition instead of Newcastle it could have been so much worse. Just didn't even look like threatening.

And I'm watching the transfer movement intently with FIFA 18 in mind.

It's funny how much all of the US and their celebrities/other sports stars etc got into the World Cup in 2014 when the US were doing alright, and now they've missed qualification for the 2018 one. I guess it'll barely get a mention in mainstream US sports media when its on now

Hah yeah it was funny watching that dude rant on ESPN about them being so shit. Had a nice set up there all ready for the World Cup too I assume..... I did think HAH, that won't get as much use now I was really pulling for the USA to get that playoff spot against Aussie (and to hopefully knock them out) and it was looking good until Panama slotted that winner, now Aussie I assume will grind out a draw away and like a 2 goal win at home against Honduras. Fuckers. Gotta love people trying to hype us up against Peru!!! We're fucked, we were fucked the moment we were announced as playing the 5th place South American team. We are double fucked because we are hosting the first leg.

It's ridiculous I read something the other day that was trying to say how Peru would be able to beat us. They're like #12 in the world lol. We will just park the bus like we always do and try and score off a free kick or something anyway. But yeah it somehow we can keep them to nil in the first leg, depending on if we score or not, we'll have 1 striker and 9 defenders in the return leg in Peru haha.
Was hoping for the US vs Aus for the spot as well. I also agree Aus will hold on in Honduras for a draw and then just piss in at home.
At least Argentina made it, it would've been a shame if Messi wasn't at the last World Cup in his prime.
Kind of an end of the era for the Dutch team as well.

Did you guys see the footage of that ballboy booting it away in the Panama-Costa Rica game? lol.
Iceland making the world cup is pretty cool, by far the smallest nation by population to make it.
We aren't going to beat Peru, it was a shame Argentina couldn't come so people could get to experience seeing Messi, Dybala, Di Maria etc. live

Would they even send those guys, or just let them play in the home leg? Didn't Mexico beat us like 5-0 at home or something? I'm sure they could've come to NZ with their reserves and 3rd string guys and put a couple of goals on us

Yeah I also figured they would send Bargentina here for our leg if it happened. Did you guys see the footage of that ballboy booting it away in the Panama-Costa Rica game? lol I just watched this now, it was actually a sub?? Looked like it anyway haha.

Winston was awesome for us today, we had some fantastic chances in the second half, a shame we couldn't finish one.
I guess we hope to take it to penalties in Lima?

It's just good to see they play the younger guys now, they were all pretty decent out there and good on them. I give us almost no chance in Lima but at least we are still in it, a shame the 2nd leg wasnt here really. Ugh Aussie, at least it was easy money for an obvious first leg result

Fucking Aussie. Easy money again but fuck em. What we think it'll be tomorrow? 2-0 in short time 3-0 final is my guess. Prove me wrong fellas, prove me wrong!

Meh we did ok, we only got opportunities at the end because they sat back on their 2-0 lead obviously, but *drags out stick and dead horse* we will always struggle without some more regular higher level competition. At least we should hopefully get a couple friendlies before the World Cup from a couple somewhat reasonable sides. Saying that we are a better team than 4 years ago at least. Bring on 2026 for direct qualification!!!

I don't mind losing to Peru as much since they haven't been for the longest time and its big for their country.
As far as the future, we have some decent up and coming attackers, but outside of Winston Reid we don't look too flash on defense. The keeper seems alright as well, although he normally follows up a basic error with a screaming save
Did you guys hear that the US is thinking of organising a tournament next year for some teams that didn't qualify? Those bloody yanks just have to try and stay relevant don't they!

Sounds great though, since New Zealand would make this second grade tournament.
A second grade tournament of 16 teams would be a pretty good watch still, with the likes of Italy, Netherlands, Chile etc. there.

Would the US even bother to invite NZ? Surely they could pick 15 teams better than us? I guess picking the best Oceania team would make all regions have a participant.

Post by shazzman on Nov 18, 2017 18:18:13 GMT 12
Depends on how many teams would be invited I guess, if it was say 16+ I would presume intercontinental playoff participants like New Zealand and Honduras would be automatically there.
