Despite the lack of wrestling interest from those of us here, figured I'd make a thread in case something wrestling related pops up that we want to mention / discuss. Which it inevitably will.

How was the wrestling in Christchurch? Did PTP avoid you?

It was a'ight - pretty run of a mill show really. Nothing compared to last year in Aucks which had a lot of quality PPV matches like Reigns v Rollins, Cena v Styles, Balor v Jericho and Owens v Sami. This year you could tell they brought a depleted roster over when they do a Battle Royal filled with midcard guys like R-Truth, Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel etc., and then they work again later in the show. But for a live event, it wasn't boring and the 2 hours just flew by. Hadn't been to Christchurch either so was a good experience to check out the city and those earthquake affected sites 'n all.

What was the turn out like? I heard talk of NZ fans losing quite a bit of interest which is a shame because live they can put on a good show.
When I went to RAW it was boring af compared to the live shows in Wellington and the two I previously went to in chch all those years ago now.

WWE PPV's are so nothing these days, but No Mercy is shaping up as potentially the best one in years.
Brock vs BRAAAAAAUN, and Roman v Cena should be awesome. Hoping they belt BRAUN 'cos he's the hottest act in the company right now.
Love how they've buried the Cruiserweight Division by having Enzo get killed on RAW each week for months, transfer to 205 Live, start winning matches against those geeks and immediately get a title shot.

Oh dear, Cena lost. Damn, Booker is a terrible commentator.

Anyone else notice someone in the crowd at the TLC PPV wearing an old school Balmain Tigers jersey?
Top right when the camera is showing the whole ring

Hahaha I didn't but that was probably because I was too busy flicking through it to notice.
Nice though, I really need to find my old school league jerseys from when I was a kid <3

To be fair I only watched higlights of the main match on youtube and noticed it when one of the guys was in the corner, then skipped back to double check

The Ric Flair 30 for 30 on ESPN on Sunday should be good.

Anyone think the royal rumble might be a bit much with a woman's rumble as well? Other than when Asuka enters the ring I think it'll be a bit of a grind. I'm guessing Lita or maybe Trish Stratus enters.

Yeah it's a bit weird, but I'll give it a chance. Put it this way, it will be a lot better than it would have been 5 or so years ago

30 women, because equality. Even though there's only 19 on the roster Which I understand, but jeez, that makes two roughly one hour Rumble's on the same show - plus six undercard matches (Two World Titles, Two Tag Titles, Cruiserweight and US Title) that they've already announced. Is this show going for 3 days?? Also, shit news about Paige apparently being forced to retire due to injury. Harsh reminder that any bump or blow can go horribly wrong at any time. Although beit she started at 13 and had that serious neck injury a few years ago, she'd already wracked up over a decade of miles on her body. Still, she's only 25 so hopefully they can find a long-term role for her.

I'm guessing Ronda Rousey might be an entrant also. I just saw talk about Paige Van Zant looking to make the move to WWE too.

So, anyone watch Mania this past Monday?! I miss Swanty's annual Mania review of snark.
Thought the first half of the show was awesome and then it kinda fell off a cliff. 7 hours though - way too fucking long. Just make it a 2 day event.
Mixed tag was the highlight of the show and Ronda's debut couldn't have gone better (although massive lols @ Steph being booked to constantly counter the ARMBAR).
Asuka-Charlotte exceeded my expectations... bit surprised they ended the streak, but then also not 'cos it felt like a Vince thing where he wasn't that invested in it to start with.
Cena-Taker after all of that build-up felt like a waste. Definitely a case of exposing that Taker has gone on years too long... imagine if he'd have gone off into the sunset after those HHH and HBK matches.
Had to smile seeing Bryan wrestling again, although I never, ever, need to see Shane and his laughable punches do another match. One could argue that he shouldn't have done this one considering he has a fucking hernia. Jeez, go home, man!
AJ-Nakamura was super disappointing. Would have thought with Okada, Tanahashi, Suziki and co all in attendance, that these two would have torn the house down.
Main event got a scathing review amongst the interewbs, and hard to argue - Roman continuously kicking out of F5's to zero reaction while the crowd amused themselves with beach balls. Deadset embarrassing. And then to top it off they go for the swerve finish and have Brock win. Whatevs.
Oh, and stoked to see Evie competing in the Women's Battle Royal and doing NZ proud.

I watched some of the matches on youtube. And watched the Hall of Fame. I've actually secretly been watching bits on youtube the last month or so haha. Just the interesting and "new" (in character sense not career) characters I haven't seen much of like Nakamura, Strowman, Finn Balor, Bray Wyatt etc. It totally blew my mind that Bray Wyatt's Dad is Mike Rotunda, who married Barry Windham's sister, who's father is Blackjack Mulligan. I'm such a mark haha
I've watched bits of NXT on youtube as well. It's ridiculous how much more interesting it is than standard WWE. I feel like I should've given it a go when it started out and I'd probably still be (secretly) watching it today. Although I totally dont care about the wrestling, I just like the different interesting characters.

I actually watched that AEW, and it was so much better than anything WWE has put out in years. YEARS.
WWE is so bad these days (apart from NXT if you count that, which can be alright), I can't believe I still bother to skim through the shows like a chump. I really hope AEW takes off, they clearly need the competition.

Anyone still watch wrestling? Seems pretty lame lol. I was catching up to Bischoff's podcast for a long time, but then found some NBA ones so haven't gone back to it.
